Understanding Your Stress Levels

In order to understand stress better, it is a good idea to understand that there are different stress levels. These levels vary in the form of stress they take and they can often provide an indication of how to treat the stress. Furthermore, there are tests available that can help people understand their own, particular brand of stress and, with this knowledge, they can also understand themselves better. Then, with this information, a complete stress management method can be constructed. So, when you examine your own stress, keep these stress levels in mind so that you can come to grips with yourself and learn the proper methods for keeping your mind balanced.

These stress levels were found and characterized by Dr. Hans Selye and Dr. Richard Earle of the Canadian Institute of Stress. Thus, the names and types are theirs.

Type 1 - The Speed Freak

This stress level is characterized by an incessant need to be giving 110% at all times. They are often perfectionists, they tend to speak quickly, and they are very impatient. Generally, Speed Freaks have learned that it is necessary to work hard in order to succeed, so they figure that, if they are working hard all the time, they are certain to succeed. This, of course, is not necessarily the case, since running full-bore all the time will only lead to stress over minor issues.

Speed Freaks need to learn how to relax and they need to clarify their goals so that they will work hard on things that really matter, while relaxing while they are working on more mundane tasks. By doing this, they can get up to speed when they need to put in the effort and conserve energy the rest of the time.

Type 2 - The Worry Wart

The Worry Wart stress level is characterized by an inability to stop thoughts, but an equal inability to put thoughts into action. They tend to overanalyze things to the point that they paralyze themselves. Thus, they simply end up spinning their wheels as they get nowhere. True to the name, Worry Warts tend to spend a lot of their time worrying and this only leaves them even more incapable of action.

Worry Warts need to think very specifically about the problems they are facing, write down every possible thing that can go wrong, then think about just how likely these events are. Then, once everything is treated with a philosophical distance, the worry will decrease and the Worry Wart can move on toward their goals.

Type 3 - The Drifter

Drifters are people who keep so many options open that they are incapable of actually developing any skills in depth. Instead of focusing their energies on specific life goals, they end up putting effort into a variety of tasks so that none of them every really get done. Thus, their hours are spent productively, but their hours rarely produce anything concrete. In fact, they create a paradox of complete freedom in which they are trapped by their own inability to use that freedom effectively.

Drifters need to clarity their life goals, focus on things that make them feel worthwhile, and try to build up a life that is open to more than just work. Then, once they have a place to direct their efforts, they can shed all the excess nonsense that they surround themselves with.

Type 4 - The Loner

This stress level is recognizable by the fact that Loners are unable to create meaningful relationships with others. This is due to the fact that they generally work alone, so that do not receive much feedback from others. Thus, rather than building relationships that can help support them, they tend to crawl into a shell and keep other people outside of it. Thus, as they avoid shared experiences with others, they become incapable of finding out what they enjoy and who they enjoy doing it with.

Loners should attempt to clarify their own values, then work to build relationships with people who share those values, which in turn gives Loners a way to move toward their goals. This will give them both a purpose and a support structure that can help them succeed in that purpose.

Type 5 - Basket Cases

This stress level is very dangerous, as Basket Cases are creating their own energy crises. Instead of caring for themselves, they tend to be achy, depressed, and they often decide that activities are simply too much effort. They are often in poor health and their own malaise and depression makes it hard to do anything about it.

Basket Cases need to start eating right in order to start the healing process. Then, after a few weeks, they should start exercising. Then, once they have a little more energy, they need to learn how to conserve energy by taking breaks during work and not overextending themselves.

Type 6 - Cliff Walkers

Cliff Walkers are people who are at risk for destroying their health. They tend to look worn, they often smoke, eat badly, drink too much, and rarely exercise. However, they usually figure that nothing bad will ever really come out of their bad habits, so they cause themselves even more damage. Thus, they tend to have problems maintaining their energy.

The treatment for Cliff Walkers is the same as that for Basket Cases. Eat right, then start an exercise program, then learn to conserve energy so that they are not constantly worn out.

By understanding stress levels, people can not only learn more about themselves, they can also learn how to succeed. Then, once a person's particular type of stress is treated correctly, the very portions of the personality that were once a burden can become a boon. Thus, learning about stress levels can actually help people achieve their goals.

The Secret Benefits of a Fitness Lifestyle

Copyright 2005 Joey Atlas

I can remember my first visit to a health club like it was yesterday. It was actually thirty years ago, when I was five years old. Even though it was a long time ago, that visit triggered something in me that is still with me today. That something was my desire to lead a fitness lifestyle.

I can go on and on here about all the health related benefits of working out and eating right. But the truth is you already heard or read about all these good things. So, I won't bore you with what you already know.

What I do want to share with you are the benefits that you won't see on a scale, in the mirror or in the results of your next medical exam. What I'm talking about is the priceless influence you will have on others who are close to you such as your children, parents, friends, co-workers and employees (if you are a business owner).

By choosing to live a fitness lifestyle, and actively expose me to it, my father was imparting wisdom on me that would beneficially influence his descendants for generations to come. Pretty smart guy, wouldn't you say?

There were other factors that contributed to my desire to lead an active & healthy lifestyle. As a kid, I was able to see the difference between how my father looked and how other people in his age range, who did not take care of themselves, looked. The difference was staggering.

And, when it came to physical abilities. Forget about it! He could do things by himself that would normally require three or four out of shape & unhealthy people to get done.

I knew exactly what kind of shape I wanted to be in when I grew up.

In essence, my father was leading by example. And, not only did I learn from his example, but so did my brother and sister. They are both committed to exercising and eating right (most of the time).

This brings me to some of those secret benefits I mentioned earlier. Our kids now watch us workout and eat healthy. The same things that happened to me as a kid are happening to the next generation. Our kids want to use the home gym, do stretches and floor exercises, and eat nuts and fruit for snacks instead of candy and cookies (most of the time).

Here is my point in all of this. By taking care of himself my father was taking care of his kids and his grandkids. And, you can believe that his great grandchildren will benefit as well.

What better gift can one pass down than the desire to lead a healthy lifestyle and the enhanced quality of life that goes with it? There is nothing better.

In addition to influencing your children, this same mechanism can and also does apply to friends, parents, co-workers and employees (if you are a business owner). I've seen this happen with many of the clients I have worked with over the years.

The reasons are many but the end result is still the same. Your healthy way of life will inspire others around you to take better care of themselves through a healthier life style.

The moral of this story is: By leading a lifestyle built around physical fitness and smart nutrition, you may be taking care of a lot more people than just yourself.

Bad Mood Busters

Are you in a bad mood or just unhappy? Don't worry. There are easy ways to beat a bad mood or even a bad day. Good moods or a peppy personality is not a disposition you are born with or without. And, you're not doomed to stay unhappy the rest of your life. Your level of happiness is a learned skill. It's easy to learn. Anyone can learn to bust a bad mood or look at the world through more optimistic eyes.

In my research of happy and optimistic people for my book Spontaneous Optimism: Proven Strategies for Health Prosperity & Happiness I uncovered patterns and strategies. Practice these easy strategies in order to improve your mood and become more upbeat and optimistic.

1. Avoid Emotional Vampires
Do you attract emotional vampires or losers into your life? Are you a loser magnet?
Emotional vampires and losers literally drain our batteries, slow us down and make us upset. To become happier, optimistic and energetic -- avoid emotional vampires. Unhappy people allow emotional vampires to suck their positive feelings right out of their skulls. Emotional vampires include people who put you down, criticize or mock you, or sabotage your dreams and aspirations.

Take survey of your life by making a list of people and situations you expose yourself to. Then, discard or limit people, habits or situations that keep you from feeling optimistic and happy. In other words, 'burn your bridges' if needed. Remember: Happy and optimistic people hang around with personal cheerleaders. Unhappy people surround themselves with emotional vampires.

2. De-tox Your Mind
You can de-tox your mind just as people de-tox their bodies. To get rid of negative or intruding bad thoughts, remember this Rule of Happiness: You can only keep one thought in your mind at a time. You can focus your thoughts on either pessimistic/unhappy or optimistic/happy thoughts. It's your choice. Unhappy and pessimistic people focus on gloomy thoughts of how they could fall down and not get up. They expect the worst to happen. Happy and optimistic people expect the best. So, houseclean your head. When setbacks or problems pop-up, immediately focus on finding a solution. Unhappy and pessimistic people focus on complaining, but happy and optimistic people focus on solutions.

3. Optimism and Happiness by the Numbers
Are you obsessed with negative thoughts that lead you to a bad mood? A simple way to become happy and optimistic is to count your way to more positive thoughts. It's easy to become an expert at switching your negative and bad thoughts to more positive and upbeat thoughts and feelings. All you need to do is focus on counting and switching your bad thoughts to upbeat and uplifting thoughts. Each time you have a negative thought, immediately switch to a positive thought or solution to your woes. Write a tally mark on a pad of paper each time you switch like this each day. Your goal is to decrease the number of times you need to switch. For example, at first you may need to switch 50 times daily. In time, you will decrease it to 30, 20 or 10 times a day. If you are obsessively negative, you will become obsessively positive using this technique.

4. Change your body posture
Happy and energetic individuals take big steps, walk faster and stand taller. They seem to exude an endless supply of energy. In sharp contrast, pessimistic, unhappy and lifeless people shuffle their feet, take tiny steps, walk slowly and slouch. They appear lifeless and have burned-out their batteries. Watch how you carry your body. Use the body-posture of happy, optimistic people, such as take big steps, walk faster and stand taller. Using these techniques will help you become happy and energetic. They are easy to carry out, and will create a positive domino effect with people in your life.

5. Watch what you say -- and never say words such as ry
To begin acting like happy and optimistic people, you need to learn what they do. Optimistic people act and talk in certain ways. For example, they use certain words. The words people use can affect their moods and energy levels. Changing your words can actually change your attitude and feelings. Use upbeat words, instead of upset words. For example, you can say, I feel overwhelmed which is upsetting. Or, you can say, I feel challenged nevertheless I can do it which is upbeat.

One of the most interesting differences between happy and unhappy people is that happy people never or rarely use the word 'try' or 'but.' These two words leave people feeling hopeless and not in-control of their lives. Happy people feel hopeful, and take tons of responsibility for their lives. The words 'try' and 'but' are excuses, and unhappy people have a bad case of 'excus-itis.

6. Focus on What You Want & Not On What You Don't Want
Worry is the #1 happiness and energy zapper. The fastest way to fill yourself with endless joy and energy is to stop worrying. How can you do that? Each time you have a negative thought, immediately switch it to a positive thought such as a solution to your woes. People who focus on solutions rather than problems are optimistic, happy and very high energy.

7. Pursue What You Love To Do and It Will Light Your Fire
The best way to start your day and jump out of bed with an enthusiastic mood is to find your passion. Find out what thrills you and you'll find boundless new energy to jump out of bed and start the day with a great mood. People who have no energy in the morning or even during the day are really lost souls. They do not have a real reason to get out of bed each day. Finding your passion or what thrills you in life can turn you on each day, light your fire and boost your mood.

Anyone can become more upbeat and optimist. When people use these techniques, they invariably feel a heavy burdens lift off their shoulders. They feel positive, upbeat, and confident. You only need a few minutes to put these tips into action. They can be your key to enhanced life including your health, wealth, and career success.

Remember: Optimism is the hidden key to your personal success. Optimists possess a clear vision of an exciting life, confidently work on goals to achieve their vision, and take self-responsibility. In contrast, pessimists have no clear vision of a fantastic life, and they love to complain, blame, and moan. So which do you want to be ---- happy & optimistic or unhappy and pessimistic? The choice is all yours.

Whatever Happened to Proofreading?

One of the great things about the Internet is it has made us instant communicators, instant authors and instant ad copy writers. One of the WORST things about the Internet is it has made us instant communicators, instant authors and instant ad copy writers. Too many people just type an email and hit send, including emails intended to sell us something. Or they build a nice looking web page, type their content and immediately go to their FTP program and upload it. They don't bother to read what they've written first.

We see the results of this daily: Email ads so poorly written we instantly delete them and web sites with so many typos we have no confidence in the business' abilities or integrity. In short, lost sales. (The author of a guide I recently read about spotting scams on the Web mentioned that some things they all seem to have in common are misused and misspelled words, misused or missing punctuation and typossloppy work.) I've seen web sites that seemed to be written by people whose first language was something other than English and the whole message was lost.

And here's one worth a chuckleor a shake of the head: While reading an eBook telling me how to write one and stressing the importance of proofreading, I saw more typos and misused words and punctuation than I could count. Now, how much should I trust this man's advice? In fact, I've found that MOST eBooks telling us how to make money on the Internet are put together so haphazardly I'm becoming convinced there IS no way to make money using their methods. Anyone who throws together their information in such a hurry they don't even proofread it doesn't gain much credibility with me. And probably don't with you, either.

I've been told that this sloppiness doesn't matter much to the younger generations, from the X-Generation down, and that's apparent by the fact that they tend to be the ones who are most often guilty. But to the older generations it matters a great deal. Now, guess which age group is the fastest growing in terms of Internet use? Which one has the most money to spend? And which one actually spends the most on the Internet? It's the Baby Boom generation, those people 45 to 55. If you want us to buy from you or believe what you have to say, you'd better make sure your copy is well written.

It also pays to remember that your site design and your writing should be tailored to your targeted market. If you're selling nose rings, use wild backgrounds and slang. But if you're selling fine jewelry, keep it simple, clean and easy to navigate and stay away from the slang. Otherwise, you'd better carry lots of nose rings!

After you've written your sales letter or web content, read it through. (To save yourself some time, you can use a text editor with spell check, and paste it into whatever program you're using.) Then send it to someone else to check itsomeone in the same age group as your target market or a professional editor. If it's a sales letter, send the 'finished' product to yourself first to make sure the formatting came out right.

After you've done that and uploaded your pages to your server, do it again. I hope you're going to check your links, anyway, to make sure THEY work. So you might as well check everything else, too. Send the URL to a few friends with different computers and different browsers to see that it looks as good on theirs as it does on yours.

A little time spent assuring it's right will make a huge difference in your site's traffic, and probably in your bank account, too.

Are You Tired of Insomnia?

How frustrating! Day after day of sleepless nights, begging for the sweet release of sleep.

Insomnia. The common sleeping problem that has many people around the world concerned.

The consequences that this disorder can inflict on folks can be downright punishing.

Endless hours of looking repeatedly at your clock while moving around in your bed. It's mental and emotional agony that we can do without. Having to stick it out the next day after another sleepless night is not only difficult, it can be dangerous. People just do not function well with little or no sleep. Mistakes can and do happen when people are tired and, sadly enough, they are not the ONLY ones that get hurt.

I don't want you to suffer anymore. Try these tips to help you in your quest for a good nights sleep.

1. Try not eating within 4 hours before you go to sleep. Have some fruit if you are hungry but do not eat any heavy food. Your food won't be digested well, and you will have a poor and uncomfortable sleep.

2. Go to sleep and wake up at the same time everyday, even during the weekends. Some insomniacs try to sleep at any time of the day to catch up on some sleep they lost at night. Don't do this. It ruins your body clock and will only make your insomnia worse. If you can't sleep one night, get up at the same time the next morning. You'll be sleeping like a baby the next night.

3. Stop drinking coffee or alcohol. Caffeine can interrupt your ability to sleep. Alcohol can make you drowsy, but it can wake you up in the middle of the night and bring you side effects that will affect you ability to sleep well.

4. Exercise daily to release tension. Do some breathing exercises to relax your body. Most important of all, don't bring your problems to sleep with you. If you really have fixed attention on some problem or some situation from work then get up, grab some paper and a pen and write, write, write. Write down what is on your mind. Write down ANY feelings, emotions, ideas etc. Do this until you are satisfied. Then, go to sleep.

5. Don't try to force yourself to sleep. You could try doing the opposite. Try NOT to sleep and see if that works. This has amazing effects on some people. As they are trying so hard not to sleep they suddenly drop off without knowing it.

I hope you do well. Good Night!

Natural Hair Loss Remedy Discovered in Apples

The news spread like lightning across the Internet...

In Japanese clinical trials, a safe, natural polyphenol compound from apples was proven to promote new hair growth in men with male pattern baldness.

In the first double-blind clinical study, 29 balding men were treated with the apple procyanidin solution. After 6 months, researchers reported that both vellus and terminal hair growth were significantly greater than placebo control group subjects.

(Vellus hairs are short hairs, only a centimeter or two long. The follicles that produce them never produce any other kind of hairs. Terminal hairs are the long hairs that grow on the head.)

Increased Number of Terminal Hairs

The next study involved 21 men in various stages of hereditary hair loss. After 12 months of topical treatment, researchers reported that 71% of subjects showed an increased number of hairs. They also noted a clear trend towards increased number of non-vellus hairs.

A Potential Cure for Male Pattern Baldness

After 12 months of study, the scientists concluded that procyanidin therapy shows promise as a potential cure for male pattern baldness.

In a third study of 29 balding men, this time for 4 months, 78.9% showed an increased mean value of hair diameter. Increased ratio of thicker hairs was significantly higher than placebo controls and the increase in the number of total hairs was significantly greater.

200% Better Than Minoxidil

Seven different published studies now confirm the profound hair-growth promoting effects of apple procyanidins. In tests on human hair cells, apple chemicals proved twice as effective as minoxidil to promote hair growth. The apple extracts were also clearly superior to less potent grape and grape seed extracts.

Procyanidins Activate Hair Follicle Growth

The richest known source of procyanidin B-2 is the skins of immature (baby) green apples. Polyphenols from apples have an astonishing range of health effects, and may be nature's perfect antioxidant. Many people taking apple procyanidins in pill form notice faster hair growth, stronger fingernails, and softer, smoother skin.

In every study, apple procyanidins have proven completely safe for humans and animals. There is no toxicity, no irritation, and no side effects. This natural hair loss remedy may be nature's best option for millions of people who suffer from thinning hair, falling hair, and male pattern baldness.

Get A Months Free Traffic To Your Site In One Day

If you're disillusioned about Internet marketing and even tired
of reading articles related to this subject, don't give up. I
too have read many articles and tried different ideas with
varying degrees of success. However, there clearly IS a proven
winner that is totally free which you can start working on right
now!

Using this method, in a single day I achieved more hits and sales
on my site than I usually do in an average month. I knew the
potential for this marketing method, but until I saw how effective it
really was for myself, I was somewhat skeptical.

I also had certain personal obstacles to overcome. I'm talking
about ignoring that little voice inside me that said I can't do
this! When I first heard about this concept, I thought
yeah, right - I don't think so - that's something I can't do.
This was my initial reaction but after giving it some thought, I
realised I had nothing to lose but a few hours of my time and
everything to gain!

So what exactly am I talking about? In a nutshell, by doing this,
your web site hit meter will scream, your sales will dramatically
increase, your name will become established and it is totally free.
To use this concept, all you need to do is write a few paragraphs
on a subject you know something about. Now this is the part where
that little voice inside starts saying No - I can't do it.
Don't listen to it! Please read on.

You don't have to be an expert in any field. We all have different
skills and knowledge areas and if you think about it, you
will find something to write about. Let me tell you a little of
my own experience.

I bought a wonderful product written by Rick Beneteau in which he
shows you exactly how to go about this and explains in detail many
concepts in order to make this process as easy and effective as
possible. After reading it, I began to feel quite excited but still
thought it was something I couldn't do, after all I am NOT a writer.

What did I know worth telling anybody? Why would anyone want to hear
what I had to say? But I stuck with it! I finally came up with an
idea to write about and although at that stage I had no idea how
effective it would prove to be, I wrote it anyway. When I had
completed my article, I began submitting it to various editors
by following the links that Rick Beneteau provides on his site.
To be honest, I didn't expect much, I didn't really expect anyone
to actually read it, yet alone publish it.

Here's the exciting bit. This, my very first article, my very first
attempt at writing was published on 7th April in WebProNews with a
circulation of 500,000. These 500,000 readers saw my article
including my resource box with my name and my web site address and it
didn't cost me anything! I was even contacted by another editor who
read this article, asking me for permission to feature the same article
in his e-zine. Wow! Together with all the e-mails I received
congratulating me on the article, I was on a total high! It was the
most exciting day of my Internet career to date and since then different articles I have written have been published by various quality e-zines.

Yet I am no different from you. I have web sites I need to promote and
now know this is the only effective way to do so. The return is just
so great. My only regret is that I didn't stumble across Rick's site
earlier. As I said, I am not a writer and didn't give in to the little
voice inside that tried to stop me doing this. If I had, I would have
missed out on so much - it is only by trying different things that we
know how successful we really can be.

So start thinking. What do you enjoy? What do you know about? What
can you share with others? Relate your personal experiences. For example,
as I write this article I know many of you have most probably heard of
this marketing technique before, and I know most of you have certainly
listened to the little voice inside of you telling you that you can't do
it, but I am hoping that by reading about my personal experience, as a
non-writer, you too will be able to benefit from this most exciting,
successful and free method of Internet marketing as I have.

As I said, you have nothing to lose so start thinking, writing and
submitting now. Be prepared for rejection. Not everyone I submitted the
Testimonial article to accepted it. Some editors totally ignored it
but I persevered until I struck gold and believe me, you can strike
gold too! And if you're reading this, I've struck gold again!

Awakening The Giant In You

Deep within man dwells some vast slumbering powers and abilities that he never dreamt of possessing. Forces that would revolutionize his life if aroused and put into action.

I mean deep on the inside of you are resident immeasurable, unfathomable and unlimited powers. These powers are the seeds of greatness also referred to as the sleeping giant. Oh! There is a sleeping giant within you, snoring, fast knocked into the deepest sleep ever, as if one were under anaesthesia. In fact the giant is too deep in slumber that it could be taken for dead.

But friends, the truth is that the giant is not dead, the giant is only sleeping. The awakening of the giant would lead to an eternal revolution that could change the entire course of history forever and put an indelible mark on the sand of times.

When the sleeping giant is awoken the entire human race would know for sure that change has come, impact is in force, revolution is marching in rank and changing the order of things. AWAKE! O YE GIANTS AND SHAKE THE LAND.

I am glad to let you know that when this giant comes to life, there would be shakings here and there like the rattling of an earthquake. This giant would stand pyramidal high and do Herculean tasks without shrugging of shoulders.

Here comes the newday... the great day. this is the brightest day, the time has come for the sleeping giant to arise like a mighty man of war, the season of change is here, for giants to make maximum impact. The treatise is broken and the journey towards greatness in life has begun. Awake the giant in you and let us affect humanity positively forever.

Buried inside of you are untapped potentials, undiscovered gifts, unrefined talents, never thought about innovation, unimagined ideas, unwritten songs, discoveries of great value that divinity has packaged into man to impact his generation and even those to come. The Wisdom Manual Says: Fan into flames the gift on the inside of you. Wake up from your slumber and embark on a voyage of discovering who you really are, who and what you ought to be and should be.

You are too big to be a dwarf, too loaded to be a mediocre. The wealth on the inside of you is richer than the oil wells of Kuwait and the gold mines of South Africa put together. Life can be improved upon, but we limit ourselves because we do not know the untapped potentials in us. I stand bold to say that you are too gifted to be at the bottom of the ladder, you are just too much! The legendary Henry Ford, the owner of Ford Motors was nothing to be reckoned with in the academics, but he turned out to become a genius in the automobile industry. When Henry went to school and failed, he was encouraged to learn bicycle repair, and there he developed until he became a Motor Manufacturer. At the age of forty he ventured into car manufacturing, against all odd he became the pioneer of mass assembly of cars.By the time he was sixty years of age he was one of the world richest men of his time!Ford said sometime ago hink you can or can't either way, you will be right.

Bad Breath and Gingivitis

Does this sound familiar to you? My dentist and hygienist mentioned that I had irritated gums as they cleaned my teeth. This is a symptom of gingivitis.

Gingivitis can be a stepping stone to major problems in the mouth and gum line. It can lead to periodontal disease, which is a much more serious problem with the potential for actual bone loss.

Halitosis (bad breath) could be related to a gingivitis infection as both are caused by bacteria. Red, swollen and/or bleeding gums characterize gingivitis. These symptoms are most evident upon flossing and sometimes from brushing.

Bacteria cause gingivitis. And bacteria are considered to be responsible for bad breath.

Sometimes, I could even see the bloodstains that the hygienist quietly wiped away with a towel. It was embarrassing enough to know that I wasn't controlling my gingivitis problem, but to know that she was actually trying not to make a big deal out of it was troubling.

I knew my dentist was concerned because she gave me a bottle of alcohol based mouthwash to try and mentioned that she wanted to see how I looked next time. I don't like using it; there is too much alcohol and the taste is not very pleasant. Alcohol may also dry the mucous membranes in the mouth.

The Problem

Bacteria can stick to your teeth and secrete acid onto them contributing to cavity formation. They can also infect the gums, particularly around the gum line, causing gingivitis. This can manifest initially as bleeding and irritated gums.

Having a lot of uncontrolled bacteria multiplying in the mouth may also lead to bad breath, but there is a natural and normal amount of bacteria in the mouth, and you will never completely get rid of them all, nor would you want to.

Theory has it that it is actually the anaerobic bacteria that live in the tongue and throat that produce sulfur that in turn produce hard to get rid of bad breath. These anaerobes create VSCs or volatile sulfur compounds. One type is the familiar rotten egg smell. There are other odors coming from VSCs as well. These sulfur-producing bacteria may feed on certain foods, like coffee, alcohol and meats.

A gingivitis problem can offer a way for bacteria to easily enter your blood stream and that can lead to additional problems. Systemic infections could come from this. Gingivitis can be something that makes your gums bleed easily in a mild case or it can be the root of deep gum recession, leading to bone loss in the worse case scenarios. (Periodontal disease)

Loss of gum line can be discouraging. A friend of mind once described the process as, getting long in the tooth. Sometimes, people experience this problem by brushing too hard. TIP: Using a soft bristled toothbrush with the type of motion that your hygienist recommends may help prevent eroded gum lines.

Treatment and Prevention

Had you ever heard of under-the-gum cleanings? This could be part of the protocol your dentist might invoke, should you develop periodontal disease. If you know people that have had an under-the-gum cleaning; they may tell you that it is not very pleasant.

Your dentist can deal with this problem in a variety of ways. However, prevention probably is the best option. Include good flossing and brushing habits - see your dentist for details. And you could add a non-alcohol based mouthwash alternative to your regimen.

I'm currently using a special toothbrush that uses vibration to clean the teeth. This device does a better job than a regular toothbrush in keeping my teeth clean. It does take a little while to get used to because of the vibration. It makes many, many vibrations per second. This helps to give it such wonderful cleaning abilities.

Don't feel sad if you have excellent oral health habits but you still have bad breath. This is common and many people experience this same situation. Oral health products that don't contain sodium lauryl sulfates or artificial flavors that can still kill the bacteria that cause bad breath without using harsh alcohol or tough chemicals may be helpful.

I am not a dentist. This article is for information purposes only. This article is not meant for diagnosis, treatment or prevention nor is it meant to give advice. If you have or suspect you have gingivitis, periodontal disease or any other dental problems, visit your dentist for a consultation.

Art of Fellatio cook suckking

FELLATIO

Oral Sex upon a Penis
What is Fellatio

Fellatio, giving head, giving a blow-job. Many men love this kind of stimulation, and many people, both women and men, like giving it. Fellatio is the act of applying your lips to a man's penis with the purpose of giving him pleasure There are few tips to fellatio that can be given other than practice. The lips and the tongue are the major sources of stimulation, and it is with the lips and tongue that you should apply the attention to make him feel good. Both men and women respond well to pressure and rhythm. A steady, strong stroke will be enough to get the reaction you're looking for

What if it doesn't smell or taste good

If the smell isn't something you enjoy, then tell him to go take a shower! While this is something you're doing primarily for his pleasure, that doesn't mean you have to suffer if he's lacking in hygiene! And if you're worried about germs, your mouth has millions more germs than a clean penis

What is deep throating

Deep throating is the act of taking the penis down past your gag reflex. In reality, this particular sexual adventure is very overrated. The best way to give fellatio is still with the lips and tongue, taking only as much as you can without gagging. However, for those that want to know, the basic lesson is still practice. Take the penis as far as you can without choking, and then close your eyes and concentrate, taking each quarter inch, telling yourself that you won't choke, that you can take it out at any time, and slowly swallow it down. Then rise off of it just as slowly

Are there any special spots on the penis

Every penis is different, and each has its sensitive spots and its preferred ways of being handled. Listen to your lover. The sounds he makes and the feel of his body tensing are your best clues that you're going this right

Should I use my hands

Feel free to grasp with your hands whatever of the penis you can't fit into your mouth. Many men like as much stimulation as possible, and the feel of a wet mouth and a saliva-slicked hand are enough to send them to the brink of orgasm very quickly

What is 69

Some people feel that the best position to perform oral sex is the 69 position, where each partner lies with their head by the other's genitals. For fellatio, this even makes sense-- most penises curve upwards, towards the head, and in this position that curve matches the curve of the throat. However, it is difficult to both perform and appreciate oral sex at the same time. Try the position, or kneel by his body, but at least in the beginning do one thing at a time.

My boyfriend wants me to swallow. What do I do

Which brings us to a sensitive issue: swallowing ejaculate. For many men, this is important to them-- they like to feel that by swallowing their semen, you complete this act of lovemaking and accept a part of themselves into your body. But many people don't like the taste of semen and can't bring themselves. Talk about this beforehand-- let him know if you can't handle it, and that it's not personal.

Can I make my seminal fluids taste better

Macrobiotic nutritionists have actually done research on this question, and the answer is in: you are what you eat. Common sense dictates that if you taste good, your lover will want to eat you more often, so improving your body's taste and smell should be important to you In general, nutritionsists say that alkaline-based foods such as meats and fish produce a butter, fish taste. Dairy products, which contain a high bacterial putrefaction level create the foulest tasting fluids by far. (Dissent: almost everyone I know says that there is one worse than a high-dairy content-- asparagus. You can't miss the taste of asparagus-laced semen.) Acidic fruits, such as sweets, fruits, and alcohol give bodily fluids a pleasant, sugary flavor. Chemically processed liquors will cause an extremely acidic taste, however, so if you're going to drink alcohol, drink high-quality, naturally fermented beers (Rolling Rock or Kirin) or sake.

What are the contents of semen

The question of semen content arises especially among persons who regularly swallow semen, as in fellatio, and who are concerned about calorie intake and nutritional substances. The average ejaculate contains aboutonia, ascorbic acid, blood-group antigens, calcium, chlorine, cholesterol, choline, citric acid, creatine, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), fructose, glutathione, hyaluronidase, inositol, lactic acid, magnesium, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, purine, pyrimidine, pyruvic acid, sodium, sorbitol, spermidine, spermine, urea, uric acid, vitamin B12, and zinc.
The caloric content of an average ejaculate is estimated to be approximately 15 calories

A last word

There is only one true way to do fellatio, and that's with enthusiasm. You have to love what you're doing to him, either because you love him or you love sucking cock. Loving both is best! Faked orgasms have nothing on lackluster fellatio

Are You Tired Of Looking For The Acne Cure ?

When it comes to zits and finding the acne cure it can be quite a difficult task. Everyone claims their product to be the one but are they. The acne cure is the product that works for you and what works for you might not work for someone else.

So how do you determine the acne cure that's right for you? Well I wish I could tell you it's very simple just buy product A or product B but the truth is you are going to have to experiment try different products until you find the one that works for you.

I could fill you full of bull and tell you Neutrogena is the one or Proactive is the one. For some that would be true, for others however it would not.

When trying a new product try to buy the smallest quantity available. Many acne products offer a trial size which is perfect! If no trial size is available then you'll have to buy the next smallest size you can find.

Remember price has no bearing on what works. For some the cheapest acne products do the job for others it's the most expensive. Trial and error is the only way you'll find out.

There are some general things you can do that help almost all sufferers to some degree.

Increase the amount of water you drink daily. It should be at least 10 8 ounce glasses. Water helps flush your system and that includes your skin which then can better move impurities and toxins out of the body.

Increase the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables you eat.

Exercise. Exercise helps boost the immune system which can then better fight our acne outbreaks.

Take a zinc supplement. Zinc has shown great results for many acne sufferers. If you want more information on zinc visit us at the acne cure center or do a quick search and you'll find other sites providing valuable information.

Reduce stress. Stress can trigger an outbreak so try to keep your stress under control. I know this can be easier said than done but there are many relaxation techniques available. Give one a try.

Contrary to the old wives tails floating around. Acne is not caused by sugar or greasy foods. Although they don't directly cause acne, they are overall not healthy for the body and can reduce the bodies ability to build a strong immune system so you should consume in moderation. But cutting them out of your diet won't make your acne magically disappear.

Many acne outbreaks are a result of hormonal imbalances. That's why acne is so prone in teens. There are hormonal treatments available that you can talk to your doctor about.

There are also many other treatments available from your doctor or dermatologist. This is certainly a route worth exploring if you suffer from severe acne.

But for the occasional outbreak you can find the acne cure that works for you over the counter. So why not start now?

Aromatherapy Know the power of fragrances

Aromatherapy is an ancient art that has been used for thousands of years as an aid to physical and emotional well being. Aromatherapy and its use can be traced back as far as the ancient Egyptians, who took advantage of essential oils therapeutic powers. Aromatherapy has also been used for a very long time in the Far East and China.

Effects of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a branch of herbology and the study of aromatherapy may best be considered in these four areas of application:

Aesthetic - the effects essential oils have on the beauty of skin and hair.

Psycho - the effects aromas have on our moods and feeling; known as aromachology.

Holistic - the integration of the divine into the body, mind, and spirit.

Medical - the effects essential oils have in enhancing and maintaining a state of homeostasis.

Method of application

An essential oil is a liquid distilled from the leaves, stems, roots, flowers, or bark of a plant. Essential oils, which are used in Aromatherapy, are very concentrated, and therefore, they are usually diluted with carrier oil, such as almond oil. Essential oils, in their purest form, tend to be very expensive, because the amount of oil present in plants is extremely small. For example, 440 pounds of fresh lavender flowers yield only 2.5 pounds of essential oil of lavender. Aromatherapy and essential oils can be used for many purposes, such as to calm or rejuvenate the body and mind.

The use of aromatherapy can be seen as part of a lifestyle choice -- a lifestyle that allows for pleasure because a moment of pleasure is healing. Pleasure is described as a source of enjoyment. Why deny yourself the pleasure and the benefits of a feminine fragrance such as Rose from Morocco or Bulgaria?

By understanding how to apply aromatherapy in daily use, you can enjoy the scents and help to maintain a system of preventative care for you and your family's long-term well-being.

Conscience

When I was a child my parents told me what was right and wrong, school had its rules and church had its sins. To be a good boy, all I needed to do was obey all the do's and don'ts. If I did, I was led to believe I was following my conscience.

This view of conscience can carry into and through adult life so that one's perception of right and wrong is shaped totally by the dictates of others. Is conscience just a product of nurture? Are we mere blank moral slates at birth or do we have an inherent sense of ethic from the get-go? I have come to believe the latter is the case because of my own internal reflection from the time of self-awareness in early youth, and the fact that society throughout time has had the same basic thread of ethic. I have sensed right and wrong from earliest memory. I'll bet you have too, if you reflect. It is there from the beginning just as the homing instinct is within a migrating bird breaking from the shell.

We spend a lifetime tinkering with our conscience, testing its limits, compromising, suppressing, denying and ignoring it in an attempt to cheat life and gain unfair advantage. But it remains solid and true at our core always ready to be re-discovered and acknowledged. We often learn best by making mistakes and feeling the pain. It is those pangs of conscience and guilt remaining with me for a lifetime that have taught me the lesson to listen-up when conscience speaks.

The first step, however, is to reach within and decide what is your conscience as opposed to that of another. Somebody else's moral dictate does not equal your conscience. If we had been brought up in another society, with other parents, a different school system and religion, then the rights and wrongs would be different and our consciences would be different. Some societies practice cannibalism, infanticide and suicide bombing because that is the way their conscience is groomed by others. But the conscience I am pointing to is not contingent. Conscience is like a receiver. We can tune it to the immutable law of universal truth or try to tune it out. Nevertheless, it remains there beaming to us whether or not we change the dial.

To make conscience dependent upon the whims and seasons of humans is to marginalize it into ethical meaninglessness. For example, who to kill and how to kill is formulated by military leaders and an ingrained patriotic conscience. Each side in a conflict sees it as moral to kill the other. If we kill and maim one or hundreds of people, as long as they are the enemy, we are doing our moral duty and our conscience is being properly exercised. In the legal profession, attorneys will defend the guilty and prosecute the innocent and do so completely in line with their conscience because the law (which others have devised) dictates that such is proper and right. In medicine, physicians prescribe drugs and practice surgery and other therapies that may do more harm than good. But they do so in good conscience because this is what medical school taught and it is in line with conventional standards of practice. If a patient dies as a result of therapy, the doctor can take comfort in thinking he has done all that can be done as defined by accepted medical standards. His conscience is clear. If a food manufacturer makes food composed of a variety of synthetics and food fractions, that's considered fine as long as the food meets certain regulatory requirements and the label is designed properly. The product is perfectly legal to sell and the company need suffer no problems with conscience regardless of the health consequences to consumers.

On the other hand, consumers feel they need only follow all the societal norms to be of good conscience. Let doctors take care of health, the government take care of the economy, the military take care of security, the attorney take care of disputes, the accountant take care of finances, the church take care of ethics, and the food industry take care of food choices. Sit back, watch TV, overeat, pay the bills and follow the rules. All is well.

This surrender of conscience first became apparent to me during a time in my life when I questioned the organized religion I was brought up in because I discovered it was committed to conformity to human edicts (church leaders), not the search for truth. This brought me to the following question: If I were to deny such outside institutional moral authority and be left alone with only my own conscience, would I become a thief, rapist and murderer? To my surprise, rather than a sense of amoral freedom, over time and with more life experience I found myself like in one of those rooms in the movies where all the walls start pushing in. Listening to the inner voice of conscience was far more exacting, demanding, constricting and at the same time liberating (the true inner me was in charge) than decades of religious mandate ever was. Virtue is choice, not obedience - a true (secular) epiphany for me.

We think we exercise conscience in our careers and personal lives, but few of us do. We usually are following the choices others are making for us. And these choices are too often designed primarily to benefit those who are giving us our do's and don'ts. We are moo-ing along back to the barn to be milked by the conscience givers. Surrendering to others makes us too vulnerable to their self-interests. The end result, all too often, is that we become pawns, victims, experimental subjects, tools and objects of tyranny, resources and profit centers. Rather, we should reach out to become full human beings each individually exploiting our full potential and helping to bring the world to a better place through our own innate and cultivated inner voice.

I'm not sure how to properly define conscience other than to say it is innate within our being, an instinct to serve as an ethical guide. We will never come to know our conscience, however, until we free ourselves of the imposed consciences of others. This is not to say the views of others shouldn't be considered, just that it seems to me that each of us are at least as justified in deciding what is right and wrong for ourselves as someone else is in deciding it for us.

I'm not suggesting just dropping out and being self-willed. It means taking on the heavy lifting of being informed and exercising ones own judgment. A conscience nurtured by search, openness, and a commitment to reason and truth is a responsibility each of us must shoulder. To not develop an informed and self-reflecting conscience, but rather to follow the rules of various surrogate mommies and daddies through life, is to remain a child.

Assisted Living: Tips on How to Choose a Facility

It is easy to be fooled by fancy drapery or expensive furniture that may decorate a care facility. Even though a facility looks high class doesn't always mean the care provided is first class. The following are just a few simple guidelines to follow when selecting either a nursing home or an assisted living facility:

1.Talk with people in the community who are familiar with the facility you are looking at. Get their opinions and feedback.

2.In order to get the feel of the residents and their activity level, tour the facility during meals times, or right before or after a meal. Activity level is usually higher during these times. This will give you a general idea of the atmosphere and the quality of food being served. Great meals are one of the lasting enjoyments our seniors have.

3.Pay attention to the residents in the facility. Do they appear to be happy? Unhappy residents could indicate their needs are not being met properly. Do the caregivers know the residents by name? Is there adequate interaction between caregiver and resident?

4.If you have concerns about the facility, don't be afraid to ask the staff questions and voice any concerns you may have. Did you receive adequate answers? Was the staff professional? Ask the administrator about the staff turnover rate. If it's high, ask for the reasons why.

5.Examine all license and state or county inspection results for the facility. Each facility is required to display these items. A facility with little or no deficiencies is most likely a facility that wants to get the job done right the first time.

6.Research the facility using resources on the internet such as the Nursing Home Compare at www.medicare.gov or view license and enforcement action information with the appropriate state agency.

7.Trust your instinct. If you feel uncomfortable about a facility, there is a reason why. If a second unscheduled visit yields the same uneasy feeling, go with your gut feeling.

Overall, being familiar with a few simple guidelines will help make your selection process much easier. Selecting a care facility for a loved one is a very important decision. The care your loved one receives will ultimately affect their quality of life. In the end, if you cannot see yourself living in a certain facility you're visiting, then chances are you shouldn't place your loved one there either.

Arthritis and Aromatherapy

Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints and is characterized by pain, stiffness, swelling, decreased range of movement and at a more serious stage deformity.
Aromatherapy is a holistic approach to health and wellness by means of aromatic, plant derived scents. It is very much a traditonal method as well as a science that encompasses the intuitive and creative aspects of preparing special purpose blends.

Aromatherapy blends for the treatment of arthritis are usually made from pure essential oils, but also from hydrosols and -- more recently -- phytols. For application to the skin they have to be mixed with vegetable oil, a cream base or a carrier lotion. Essential Oils must always be used diluted when applied to the skin. A dilution of 3% essential oils in 97% base is generally regarded as very effective and safe.

Since the reasons for the occurance of arthritis are still not completely established, it is difficult to find a cure for the disease. Arthritis could be genetic, it could have to do with bone density loss, it could also be a type of infection caused by toxins released in the body. Even more likely it is a combination of several factors. It is -- at this stage -- only possible to treat the pain and symptoms caused by arthritis but not it's underlying cause.

Aromatherapy is one form of arthritis treatment, using a variety of essential oils. They can be added to the bath, massaged into the skin, inhaled or applied as compresses. The right mixture of essential oils will help to relax, promote pain relief and alleviate fatigue. Essential oils can also provide psychological benefits like improving the mood and reducing anxiety.

Some of the more suitable arthritis oils are Lavender, Juniper, Thyme, Rosemary, Benzoe, Eucalyptus, Camomile, Pine Scotch, Camphor, Angelica Root, Ginger, Origanum, Black Pepper and Lemon.

One of the most effective ways to use aromatherapy for relieving pain and reducing inflammation are hot compresses:
1. Fill a medium size bowl with hot, but not scalding water.
2. Add 3 to 6 drops of essential oil.
3. Fold a piece of sterile cotton cloth and dip it into the bowl.
4. Squeeze out excess water, but not too much.
5. Place the wet, hot cloth onto the affected area until it has cooled down to body temperature.
6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 at least two to three times.
7. Wrap the treated area in a dry and warm towel or blanket and leave the patient to rest for a while.

Another good way to use aromatherapy for arthritis relieve is to rub diluted essential oils (see above for dilution) onto pulse points and affected areas during the day. Applying essential oils throughout the day can help to alleviate pain and tension. The essential oils on the skin are quickly absorbed and enter the bloodstream. This is an excellent form of arthritis relief and works also well as a preventative measure.

Aromatherapy is a natural, safe and economical option to deal with the pain and symptoms of arthritis. And above all, it has no negative side effects as so many of the conventional treatments do. In mild cases of arthritis, aromatherapy is often all that is needed to make a person comfortable.

How Green Tea Can Help You To Lose Weight

Copyright 2005 Arina Nikitina

Green tea has been highly valued in Asia for centuries for it's medical properties. In the recent years green tea benefits caught the attention of western scientists. Alongside with confirming many of the green tea benefits scientists indicated that green tea can also help you lose weight.

During their research they've made an amazing discovery. Even though green tea did contain caffeine it have not change the energy expenditure nor it have significantly change a heart rate.

That led to a conclusion that green tea helps to lose weight naturally and safely. In this respect, green tea or green tea extract is different from most of the prescription drugs for obesity or herbal products like ephedra, which can raise heart rates and blood pressure, and are not recommended for many individuals sensitive to stimulants.

The secret of such influence on the body lays in high concentrations of catechin polyphenols. These compounds work with other chemicals to intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis, where heat is created in the body by burning fuels such as fat. Green tea causes carbohydrates to be released slowly.

This prevents sharp increases of insulin in your blood (insulin stimulates the transformation of fatty acids into fat molecules which are stored as fat droplets). As the result fat is burned faster without being locked in the fat sells. I want you to remember that even a small effect can go a long way when you are dealing with your metabolism. For example, just by drinking one cup of tea a day or by taking green tea extract in the form of supplement you will burn about an extra 78 calories. This adds up to over 28,000 calories in a year. Which is about 8 extra pounds of weight.

There is also clear evidence that green tea's polyphenols (EGCG) helps depressing leptin (a protein produced by fats that plays an important role in how the body manages fat storage through brain signals). Lower leptin levels decrease the appetite. It means that you will get that I'm full! felling faster and as a result consume less food.

It is quite certain that green tea is now holding promise in various areas of weight loss. Drink a cup of your favorite green tea every day and lose those extra pounds easier and faster. Good luck!

Principles to Live By

All people hold certain core beliefs that influence the way they live. Whether or not they are able to articulate their beliefs in some pithy phrase like carpe diem or live free, they act and react to life's stimuli consistent with what they believe. Since beliefs or convictions are a function of thought, they can be changed. The Bible says, as a man thinketh, so is he. So how should a man think if he desires to live a passionate and balanced life, free from the unsteadiness of so many souls? Below, I list a few principles I have found helpful.

Joy can be found in a glass of water

Joy in life is tied to expectations. Why do some celebrities who appear to have it all sometimes kill themselves, whereas others whom have little of what is valued by most people live lives of remarkable joy? Very often, the answer to this question lies in where individuals expect to find joy. You see, to live successfully we must learn a hierarchy of joy. Joy in the Lord is superior, since God doesn't change. This is why people of faith are less likely to be shaken when the storms of life arrive. God doesn't get blown away in the high winds.

After joy in the Lord, learn to en-Joy people. Almost everyone has redeeming virtues - celebrate them. If you perceive that someone is loving, revel in their love; if they're funny, let them tickle your funny bone; if they're wise, feed on their wisdom. If they have a challenging personality, work on your patience; and if they push you the wrong way, practice flexibility. Benefit from what others have to offer; and share something of yourself. On the other hand, don't hesitate to avoid people who seem to lack all redeeming virtues; they will only vex your spirit.

Learn also that the joy in a thing, should be found only in its intended purpose. For example, while you may enjoy a luxury car for its luxuriousness, or its speed or other functionality, it is more dangerous to value it for the prestige it brings. The attributes of the car are somewhat inherent in the car, whereas prestige is tied up into how others react to your possession of the car. In any event, in most cases, a car, as all other things, should be valued primarily for that thing which makes it what it is. Thus, a car is for transportation, a home for shelter, clothes for covering, et cetera.

A final point on joy - if you are unable to find joy in your circumstance, change it. You have the power. Ponder this: joy can be found in a glass of water.

Problems are for solving - life is for living

We ought not to make our lives synonymous with the problems they may bring. We have no control over many of the circumstances we face in life; we do have control over our response to them. When faced with problems, we must purpose to continue to live as we would have without them, while we deal with them. If you would have laughed, but for your troubles, laugh; if you would have partied, but for your troubles, party; if you would have loved, but for your troubles, love. Don't make any changes in your life as a result of the problem, unless the change is part of the solution. Especially, don't make changes that only add to your troubles by deepening your depression.

There's nothing new under the sun

I know it's another clich, but it bears repeating. In the absence of joy or in the face of trouble, you should know that nothing you are experiencing or will experience is completely unique. The implication of this should be liberating. You are special, but your circumstances aren't. If it's help you need, there is someone out there who can empathize with you. If you require humility, know that others have accomplished the very same thing. If you need to forgive, consider that you're probably guilty of the same wrong or at least one similar.

Have you ever watched healthy infants? Each one of them has abundant passion for life. We all begin life that way. Over time, some of us lose our simplicity, and with it, our passion for life. That's because we develop beliefs alien to the wisdom we've been given by our Creator. The good news is that we can change our beliefs. Embrace the above principles and our passion for life should be restored, if lost; and preserved, if still present.

Basic Meditation Exercises

(Authors Note: Before reading this you should see my other articles on Breathing and Full Body Awareness)
Now that you've begun to develop the ability to move energy around in your body there are some things that you can do with it. The following exercises range from pretty simple to pretty complicated, but as you develop your abilities you'll eventually find that you can do them all at once and effortlessly. It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few years to develop this ability, so remember what I said about expectations.
Grounding
Grounding will always be an important skill, no matter how 'advanced' you become, so take the time to learn this now and to be able to do it effortlessly.
Stand in the 'Standing Stake pose described above. Go through the breathing and Full Body Awareness exercises. Visualize roots growing from your feet down through the core of the earth, just like a tree. In later meditations you can add some variety by seeing the roots flow down to a large crystal at the earth's core. Depending on the effect you want you can vary the crystals and access different energies, but that obviously beyond the scope of this exercise.
As you inhale feel the energy of the earth being drawn up through your roots and up through your body and out through the top of your head.
On your exhale, let that energy drop back down through your body and feel all the accumulated stress of your life flow out with it and back down through your roots and into the earth. Feel your muscles relax as the stress flows out. This is a good way to release all your stresses, fears, angers and feelings of inadequacy. Repeat this exercise for awhile, as many times as necessary to clean yourself out.
There's nothing wrong (and a lot of benefit) to stopping at this point and just doing these exercises that we've learned up to this point, until they become completely effortless. Whenever you feel yourself stressed or angry learn to take a moment and ground yourself and let those feelings just flow out.

Progressive Relaxation
Progressive Relaxation is easy to do and you can do it anywhere and anytime.
Assume your meditation position of choice (I like the half-lotus on a zafu) and go through all the exercises I've covered up to this point. Now just take a moment and feel the relaxed energy that you should have after grounding and releasing all your stress. Are you ready to get deeper into this feeling?
Feel the energy that flows up through your roots and into your feet. Now make 'fists' with your feet by curling your toes in as far as you can until it hurts, then relax. Now let that relaxed feeling flow from your toes back over your feet and feel them relax.
As you inhale draw that relaxed feeling up over your ankles and feel them relax completely. On the exhale let any residual stress flow back out and down through the earth.
On your next inhale draw that relaxed feeling back up over your calves, letting them relax after walking all day.
Then, draw that relaxed energy up over your thighs with the next inhale. They're the biggest muscles in the body, so let them relax and rest now.
As you inhale feel that relaxed feeling flow up over your hips and buttocks. Feel the stress bleed away. We store a lost of stress here, so take a moment and let this area relax.
Now draw that relaxed feeling up over your stomach and lower back. Feel the muscles in your back relax and feel your stomach move with your inhale.
Bring the energy up over your chest and the middle of your back. Feel your heart area expand with the relaxed energy and feel all the accumulated stress in between your shoulder blades release and flow out and back down with your exhale.
Draw the feeling of relaxation up over your shoulders and neck. Feel any residual tension flow out with your exhale.
Now let that relaxed energy flow up and over your head. Let the muscles of your face and those at the base of your skull relax.
Now just sit here and feel this relaxed body that you have. Remember this feeling as its how you should feel all the time. Tense muscles store energy, which means that your energy isn't flowing through you, but rather sticking in certain places in your body.
When your muscles are relaxed then your energy flows unimpeded leaving you feeling much lighter and more refreshed.

Just Thinking

about thinking. Have you ever thought of that? Thinking about thinking I mean. How do we do that? We humans are absolutely amazing. Heck, I think I could even think about thinking about thinking. Wow! I wonder if nah, I'll let it go at that

But it is pretty amazing, isn't it? How we can do so many neat, creative things with our minds? We can think about anything we want to. Want to think about an elephant - see an elephant in your head? All we need to do is just let it happen. Hardly any effort at all. In fact, no effort at all when you get right down to it. We don't need to eat any special diet. We don't need to do warm-ups. We don't need to take classes on how to think about an elephant. If we've seen an elephant - real or in pictures - just once with our eyes, we can see it again in our head. Wow!

What else do you want to think about? OK guys and gals - go ahead. After all it's your thoughts in your heads. (Short pause for purposes of full enjoyment ) Neat, huh? And yeah, I DO know what you were thinking about

What else? Aw, come on - there must be something else you'd like to think about. Seriously, we can't think about that other stuff all the time. Why? Because we'd hurt ourselves, that's why. We'd be falling off the couch, walking into walls and crashing into other cars. Actually, it's good that our thinkers sort of go on automatic pilot sometimes. Like when we're actually trying to accomplish something like walking or driving. Or maybe eating. It's good that we don't have to think about breathing either. Most of us would forget to do it. Why? Well, probably because we would be thinking about that other stuff. Know what I mean?

What else? I know. How about going on a thinking vacation? Pick where you want to go. Well go there - in your head, I mean. Do whatever you want to do. See what you want to see. Be with whoever you want to be with. Would it work better if I moved that last sentence back to just before the Do whatever one? OK, help yourself. Better now? (Man, we're never going to move very far away from that other stuff, are we?)

What else? No, you don't need a pause here. You can go back to your personal thinking vacation later - in fact, any time you want. We'll just move on.

Here's a suggestion. Since this thinking stuff is pretty cool, why don't you make it a point to set aside some time for you every day to do just that? To just kick back and think. You can think about thinking if you want. Or you can think about your personal vacation. Or yeah, you can think about the other stuff too, if you want. Anything you want to think about. You might even try thinking about who you are and how you got to be where you are and what you'd like to accomplish as you cruise on down life's road. What the heck - give it a shot. You never know what you might come up with. Maybe it could turn out to be something really special. You just never know

Think about it

Are You The Driver Or The Passenger?

In your journey through life are you the driver or the passenger?
Let me be perfectly clear what I mean about this statement. In other words, do you take charge of your own life? Do you make the judgment and set the goals for what you want your life to be like? - Or - Do you let others influence you and follow in their footsteps?

This is a very important question you should be answering. After all it is your life you should be the one designing it and being happy with it. So many people seem to think they should feel guilty if they aren't always following someone else's plan. Does it really make sense to please others yet not please yourself? I sure don't think so. Now I do agree you may want to compensate to some degree to please others but not to the degree of being unhappy about the kind of life you lead.

It took me a few years to finally come to that conclusion when I was in my early forties. You see my Dad was the owner of a very successful family florist business. He wanted to eventually pass it on to me. In my earlier years that was an exciting thought but as I grew older I began to have my doubts.

I started working part time in the business at a very early age. That was usually during major holidays and some special functions. When I went to high school I was on the regular payroll and working as much as thirty hours a week. After two years of college I was drafted into the U.S.Army so I was out of the picture for two years. I spent a lot of time thinking during that time what I would do when I finally returned home.

On returning home, married and having a child on the way I had reservations whether I wanted to continue my career in the business. I recalled some of those times when we worked sixty hour six day weeks with no vacation time. I wasn't sure if I was ready to commit myself to that kind of schedule anymore. Besides that I had a family now that was going to be affected too.

Well the climax came one day a few weeks after I returned home from the service. I confronted my dad about the whole issue. He wasn't exactly pleased that I was demanding at least a half-day off a week and a two-week vacation every year. Eventually he relented and later I was even able to take a whole day off plus get a few other privileges too. I spent about another twenty years on this schedule but many times thinking, do I really want to do this anymore?

I finally reached this decision when I was forty-two years of age. I decided this business was no longer for me. My dad never really understood why I wanted to give it up even though I tried to explain why. I wasn't happy about the hours, the compensation, the stress and a host of other things usually demanded of a retail business.

The dream I had for becoming a commissioned sales representative kept popping up in my head over the years. I finally decided I was going to be the driver and no longer a passenger on my road through life. So it wasn't long before I got my first job as a sales rep. However it only lasted about eighteen months. I became dissatisfied with not only the company but the sales manager as well. I had already lined up a position with another company so I wasn't without a job for very long. I spent the next twenty years with them until my retirement.

During those years in sales I was the happiest I had ever been in my life. I earned more income during that time and was able to provide more things for my family too. Even though I traveled out of town every other week for about six years as a sales supervisor my wife was satisfied with that arrangement and so was I.

I've come to the conclusion that no matter what age you are make sure that you always decide what kind of life is right for you. In the last six years my wife and I have spent half the year in Florida and the other half in our primary home in Indiana. It was a big decision. During those times we are away from our children and grandchildren but we made that choice because we were tired of the winters in Indiana.
Once again we became the drivers instead of the passengers and made a choice of the type of life we wanted to lead. Only you should decide which kind of journey you will be taking through life and how you will arrive there. Take charge. Remember it's Your Life. Enjoy it to the fullest.

Arthritis Symptoms May be Alleviated by Fruits and Vegetable

If you or someone you know suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, you know how painful and debilitating it can be. If you haven't walked a mile in those shoes, you can't imagine how frustrating it can be. Your doctor may say try this medication, try that. Don't do this, do that. But sometimes, to no avail. The disease is caused by a misguided immune system attack on the body's own joint tissue, which leads to swelling, pain, stiffness and in some cases deformity. Rheumatoid arthritis is more common among women than men.

Perhaps what you're eating, or more specifically what you're not eating can be causing some of your soreness. Recent findings suggest that a diet high in fruits, vegetables, legumes and certain oils aids in relieving symptoms in people with rheumatoid arthritis. After following a diet rich in fruits and veggies for three months, people with rheumatoid arthritis experienced a number of improvements not seen in people following a typical American diet high in processed foods. Some of the improvements shown include a decrease in pain, inflammation, disease activity and in the number of swollen joints. Further, previous research suggested that more olive oil and cooked vegetables help protect people from the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

The current results suggest that patients with (rheumatoid arthritis) can obtain better physical function and increase their vitality from eating a fruit, vegetables, legumes and some oils diet for three months, write Dr. Lars Skoldstam of Visby Hospital in Sweden and colleagues.

This plan is similar to that of people who live in the Mediterranean. They also tend to eat a lot of fruit, vegetables, and legumes, more fish and less red meat. Moreover, they drink a moderate amount of wine, and rely on olive oil as their main source of dietary fat. Earlier research has suggested that followers of this diet enjoy a wide range of benefits, such as a lower risk of heart disease, cancer and memory loss.

Additional studies have shown that citrus fruit and zinc may also cut rheumatoid arthritis risk. Citrus can be helpful because of the antioxidants they contain. Findings are not conclusive, yet promising.

In the study, the doctors found that women getting less than 40 micrograms of beta-cryptoxanthin, a component found in citrus fruits such as oranges and grapefruit were at a somewhat elevated danger of developing rheumatoid arthritis than women who consumed more than that amount.

Although thus far it has only been proven that genetics is the culprit behind rheumatoid arthritis, if there have been some findings as to the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables, wouldn't it make sense for suffers to up their intake? It certainly can't hurt... and may actually help. Now please pass the broccoli with a side of grapefruit!

Are You Doing What You Love Each and Every Day?

It is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day stress of everyday life: deadlines to meet, schedules to keep, unexpected expenses, conflicts to resolve, illness of loved ones, to name a few. Amidst all this, it is easy to for me to lose sight of why I do what I do - my purpose for being. I discovered my passion and my purpose over seven years ago. It was the catalyst for starting my business, The Center for Balanced Living in 1996. It is what led me to my purpose which is to empower you to live out your dreams with ease and abundance. Sometimes I get caught up in the external factors and forget to focus on what is really important. It is then that I must remind myself why I am here. It is a grounding place for me.

I teach my clients to look to their life for their passions and purpose. That is certainly where mine came from and I have found it to be true for many others. A lot of different threads weave through my story, but the most obvious and first I can remember centered around my life while I was growing up, and most specifically my dad. I'd like to share that story with you now.

I always had the impression my dad was unhappy. Actually, miserable is more the way I would describe him. He was mostly unhappy about his jobs . . . all of them that I can remember. I vividly remember my dad coming home from work, with his shoulders hunched over and his head hanging low. He would walk right past a mosaic picture of horses pulling a carriage through the snow.

Looking exhausted and sad, he would sit down at the kitchen table and say to my mom, Charlie (that's what he called her), I can't take it anymore. I want to quit my job! And I can remember my mom, who was looking after our security and well-being in the best way she knew how, saying, Just hang in there Mac. Stick it out! We need the money! And I can remember thinking, 'Yeah! Hang in there! We need the money!' We didn't have much money in those days.

This story repeated itself year after year, as my dad persevered. The last two years of his career were literally a countdown to retirement at age 65. My dad retired at age 65. Two years later, he did some introspective thinking at the prompting of his daughter. At age 67, my dad declared himself an artist. I can still remember the moment he told me. My eyes got teary as I recalled the beautiful, mosaic picture on their living-room wall.

You see my dad made that mosaic picture, but I never saw him working on it. He created it before I was born. It was a beautiful mosaic, made of thousands of small hand-cut tiles. My dad had always been an artist but had suppressed that talent for most of his life while he strove to earn a living for his family. He worked in the garment industry in New York, and then the carpet industry in Florida. I often wonder what would have been possible if my dad had worked out a way to utilize his artistic abilities in his jobs. He had always been a good employee; he might have been a happy one too.

For a while my dad was happier than I had ever seen him. He carved wood etchings and gave them away as gifts. He traveled to places he had never seen. He also made more money in his investments than he did at his jobs. I am glad he had that short time period when he was happy. Unfortunately, it wasn't too long before my dad's health started to decline. Eventually, he lost patience and could no longer focus on his artwork. His health began to deteriorate and he passed away on September 9, 2003. He was 76 years old. My dad waited until he retired to do what he loved. It was a small window in the whole continuum of his life. That is why, more than ever, I strongly urge people to move forward now -- don't wait until you retire to do what you love. We all tend to live as if we have forever, but really, who knows our time allotment?

Are you doing what you love to do?

If not, what is one action step you can take today to move you forward?

Do you know your purpose in life? If so, take the time today to get re-grounded in it. If not, take the time to reflect on what you want to contribute in this lifetime. Consider hiring a coach to help you discover it.

Stacey Mayo, aka The Dream Queen, founded the Center for Balanced Living in 1995 as a vehicle to carry out her life's work.
