Are You Hooked to the Power Source?

As Christian's we are often very independent. We try to do everything and often feel we do everything. Are there times when you are frustrated, tired, irritable, and have no energy? I am not selling you a vitamin supplement, so don't worry. I have recently realized this past week how little I turn things over to the ultimate Power Source - God. Lord, I cannot do this in my own strength. If the children argue one more time - I will scream. God, help me to know what to say without screaming. Lord, what is your agenda for me today - you know I all ready have one figured out. Do we see the many requests of our children as divine interruptions or just another thing to do on our list?

I know often I grow weary and God needs to fill my tank. We fill our tanks with junk food or junk TV for that matter, but do we go to the Ultimate Power Source?

Do you feel some of the things that bother you are really to small to talk with God about or not a big deal? I am convinced that God wants to hear the smallest details of our lives. I have found when I share my frustrations with Him I take a deep breath and calm down. I have more patience with my children, spouse, or work situation.

Please don't hear me saying I have it all together, I certainly don't. I am learning daily to stay connected to my Power Source. That could be a prayer on the way to work or a prayer on the way home from picking up my children. I encourage you daily to connect to your Power Source even if it is a quick prayer for strength, wisdom, or whatever your needs are for the day. I will supply all your needs, according to my riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Artificial Intelligence ... what have we learned through nat

During the late '80s and early '90s, I had the opportunity to work with expert systems in real-time production environments. I found artificial intelligence, or AI, to be thoroughly intriguing. I even went so far as to write an expert system package, under Microsoft Windows, called WindExS. However, as I continued my work, and expanded into other areas of knowledge management and, eventually, remote viewing, I began to find some unusual inconsistencies in the AI world and the desires to create ruly intelligent and hinking machines.

One of the issues that people usually claim as a requirement of true intelligence is that one must have a soul. These ideas and dabbling prompted me to write a short screenplay entitled Sylvie, which was the story of an emotionally intelligent system. That small inkling of creativity still did not allow me to delve as deeply into the topic as I had wanted. However, it did bring up the question: what is a soul?

--- What is AI? ---

AI is the science and engineering of making machines intelligent, especially through the creation of intelligent software. It is similar to the task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable. Intelligence is the computational part of the ability to define a plan and achieve goals. Different types and levels of intelligence occur in people, animals, and some machines. However, the ultimate premise behind creating an intelligent machine is the ability to think creatively, solve problems using abstract information, and devise new solutions.

--- The Biological Parallel Computer ---

Consider the vast amount of information that we acquire and process every day. It is difficult to imagine that so much information and activity could be stored in such a small amount of tissue and fluid. Scientists have been theorizing that, indeed, the mind is not as much of a storage device as it is a communications device to some larger knowledge base. The mind appears to be a way to pre-process data for storage and a way to analyze data for use while all the time maintaining a connection for data storage and acquisition with this knowledge base.

This knowledge base surrounds us with information and intelligence. Everything that every creature in the Universe knows, and will ever know, is stored and made available for us by simply asking for it. However, accessing it requires a connection, a field, which connects us all together in a large io-circuit. It can be seen as a iological parallel computing environment. The information presented by this bio-circuit consists of a limitless and accessible Universal source of knowledge.

--- Why be creative? ---

I remember my days in school where I was taught that, indeed, daydreaming and excessive creativity could destroy your life. However, the important thing that I learned along the way is that, without creativity, there can be no progress. Creativity is a way to expand one's consciousness by taking abstract ideas and turning them into a new reality. It is a way to take what you know as an absolute, and stretch it into the unknown. Each stretch takes you further and expands your absolutes along the way.

Without creativity, you would do the same things that you've always done in life without ever moving forward or backward. Consider it as being caught in a rut. You can't leave the rut because you can't figure out how to get out of it. When you think creatively, you're taking things that you know, applying it to things that you don't, and devising a solution to achieve a goal.

To access the vast resources of creativity, the mind reaches into the bio-circuit and extracts bits and pieces of information that it can use to create intelligent solutions. By developing your creative abilities, you are opening that circuit to more knowledge, a greater intellect, and a broader understanding of life.

--- What is the soul anyway? ---

A discussion of creativity once again brings up the question of: what is the soul? After some thought and evaluation, I would have to say that the soul is the link, the transceiver, between our physical world and the bio-circuit. It is the living essence of everything within each of us.

By closing ourselves off into our own worlds and hiding our souls under the muck and mire of challenges, we close off our connection to the bio-circuit. Our soul essentially dies and we become a stand-alone computer with only the knowledge we have saved as our guide. However, by working to bring your soul forward and using your creativity in everything you do, you can acquire knowledge from every part of the Universe.

--- True AI ---

Scientists have tried to mimic the way the human brain functions. Storage, processing, intelligence, and self-learning are all components of AI. However, what if the basic premise of how the brain functions was --- wrong? Indeed, it provides control over our bodies and accepts stimuli; however, what if the ideas of processing, intelligence, storage, and self-learning all truly based on the connection of our minds with the bio-circuit. In this way, to create a mimic of the human intellect, we must understand how we interact with each other through the bio-circuit.

--- What's next? ---

What an unusual foray into strange territory. However, this has been a general concept that has been eating at me for years. It wasn't until I began remote viewing that I was able to see and apply the ideas of Universal intelligence to the ideas of artificial intelligence. I am not going to say that, in this context, a machine cannot have a soul, as stranger things have happened. However, I will say that the true nature of intelligence will not be realized until we understand and believe the true purpose and function of the soul.

Life 101 For the Young and Young at Heart! Book Excerpt

Lesson 1.
Category
Well Being
Plan to do this.
Stop blaming others for your shortcomings and failings in life.
Why should you do this?
What ever happened in the past is not a prediction of what will happen in the future. Take control of you, your thoughts, and your actions, so you may do something positive about your future life circumstances.
What happened?
There have been situations where people stepped, and even stomped me to the ground, both mentally and physically. It was not until evaluating why this was happening when an epiphany happened, a clarity I never had before; I was allowing these negative people and things to occur in my life. All the time, blaming others for their words and actions, and then the truth hit me like a ton of bricks. If I did not want others to take advantage of me, then I should remove myself from their presence, either mentally or physically. It is hard to say this to someone, more so to children who have no control over their circumstances, but then again, maybe they actually do have control to some extent. Talking to their teachers, extended family, or neighbors, calling the police or child services for help is a start. How do you convey to anyone that he has the power to do anything if he does not have a strong mind and willing heart? Control your life from within yourselfit is that simple. If you do not believe you have control, then remove yourself physically from the situation. If you must remain in a situation, then cut off negative people and their actions in your mind; find a way to drown them out, as if you were tuning out commercials when watching television.

When bonus time had arrived, I overheard our supervisor telling our manager to exclude my job function from the bonus pool by transferring it to another department. Some people are mean spirited, and you cannot help them, just pray for them. I did not receive a bonus that year, allowing our supervisor to receive an even larger bonus. Everyday, as I passed our supervisor in the halls I would repeat this to myself, You mean absolutely nothing to me, and this is only a stepping stone on the way to a greater life that God has promised me. I could not change what happened but I could change my response. Convincing myself that it was a learning opportunity, one that would make me more humble, to learn not to react negatively to others, to learn how to ignore some people and things, and to look forward to a better future. Take this truth to the next step, and you release blame and not allow it to consume your life by dwelling on its negativity but go on to take control of your life and actions to make you a better person.
How do you do this?
Changing the blame from them to me by questioning myself as to what I was doing to deserve this. Thinking it must be something I did. When I answered the question, I realized I was not doing anything. Therein laid the problem of who was responsible. Questioning, allowed me to evaluate other options I could use to change my circumstances. The options were to remove myself from the situation or stick to it but change my perspective. Instead of hoping for people or the circumstances to change, which were unreliable anyway, take the steps necessary to circumvent the problem. Never try to change a person. Offering suggestions may help, but ultimately I have control over my destiny, rather than the molds others have set for me.

Lesson 58.

Goals
Plan to do this.
Success is the best revenge!
Why should you do this?
To the naysayer, to all those who said you wouldn't amount to anything. To all those who treated you as if you wouldn't amount to anything. To all those who acted as if you wouldn't amount to anything. To those who acted as if they were better than you were. To those who thought they were better than you were. To those who mistreated you in anyway. To all those who boasted to you about themselves or their belongings. To all those who thought they were more beautiful or handsome than you were. To those who disrespected you in any form. To anyone who had an ounce of animosity towards you for no apparent reason. To those who got the better of you on a day when you were down and out. To those who kicked you while you were down and out. To those who tried their hardest to make your life a living hell. To those who abused you in any formSUCCEED!
What happened?
We have not reached the pinnacle of success, but we are definitely on our way through the goals we have established for ourselves, and continue to accomplish. In terms of education, family, friends and financial independence, we suppose, we have surpassed many of the individuals we have had the misfortune of meeting and who were previously mentioned. Intuition tells us this has created even more animosity towards us because we did not focus on them but on the goals and dreams, we have planned and have tediously pursued. The purpose of any naysayer, otherwise known as dream busters, is to take the spirit from those they encounter, and by not giving them the satisfaction, you are already ahead of the game.
How do you do this?
Whatever goals you have for yourself complete them no matter how stellar the performance might be, if the journey is on the road to success then do so, remembering that no dream is too big for reality. Take those steps in your life to enhance not only who you are as a person but also those around you. When the naysayer, hears of your success, he will have to, if only for a moment, reflect on how his behavior has had an impact on your life and who got the better of the experience. If success is not for you, then let it be for themyour motivation.

Arthritis Pain Relief : Questions To Ask Your Healthcare Pro

Copyright 2005 Priya Shah

A great place to begin taking charge of you arthritis pain relief and prevention planning is by making an appointment with your healthcare provider and finding out more about your condition and treatment options.

Make sure to jot down questions ahead of time, and take them along in your journal or notebook, armed with a pencil to fill in his or her replies.

Some questions to begin with may be centered around these:

1. Do I have a form of arthritis? If not, what is wrong & what do I do next?

2. If so, which type is it? And what can I expect short-term and long-term?

3. What pain relief treatments are available? Which have side affects & what are they?

4. What self-care solutions do you advise?

5. Are there any limitations I should know about; i.e. special dietary issues, special activities to avoid, any OTC meds to NOT mix, etc.?

6. What resources do you have to help with my diet and exercise planning?

7. What other arthritic and other health resources do you have for my family and me?

When you take in your questions, also take in a description of your symptoms so that your doctor can help better understand your situation and health.

Make sure to note:

- Where you have pain (same joint both limbs?)

- When you feel pain - with certain activities, in the morning, when it rains, etc.

- How long you have had the pain

- If the pain increases or decreases, comes and goes, etc.

- The type & intensity level of pain - stabbing, dull, cramping, stiffness - and low, mild or high pain

- Note any limitations - can't bend over too far without pain, can't get out of car, etc.

- Share any family history of arthritis

- Tell about any OTC or prescription medications or other treatments you currently take or use.

- Discuss any special diet you are on and exercise programs

So try the different options available for arthritis pain relief and prevention.

Give your joints a break as soon as possible from any excess weight they're hauling around, even if it's the weight of excess stress.

Lighten up and make pain relief and prevention care part of your normal, everyday routine.

Atkins Diet Yes or No

Copyright 2004 by http://www.organicgreens.us and Loring Windblad. This article may be freely copied and used on other web sites only if it is copied complete with all links and text intact and unchanged except for minor improvements such as misspellings and typos.

As of now, January 2005, more than half of all north Americans are struggling with obesity. The quick fix for fat for the last 40+ years, becoming ever more popular, has become the Atkins Diet. The Atkins Diet was first popularized in the U. S. Air Force during the 1960's.

The Atkins Diet is very simple --- restrict your carbohydrate intake. And guess what? It actually works. But Dr. Atkins, after the initial few years of his popularized diet, began to make modifications and refinements to the original basic diet. And several other people have taken the basic Atkins Diet, modified it just a little, and come up with a new and very workable diet.

The first thing you must understand is that, across the entire human spectrum, each of us is very different from one another in the chemical makeup of our body. Thus, each of us, individually, should have our own highly personalized, custom built diet, created by a dietician using a chemical makeup assessment, usually a $200 hair analysis, of our particular body type and individual nutritional needs. So far as I know, this technology and this type dietary assessment is still available only through certain holistic health practitioners and it is becoming more and more expensive. As an example, it typically costs now between $200 and $300, whereas in the mid-1970's it cost between $100 and $150.

There are three major misconceptions to the Atkins diet. The first common myth is many people believe this means don't worry about the amount of calories or fat you eat so long as its not carbs. The second common myth is many people believe all carbohydrates are equally bad. The third common myth is that the Atkins Lo-Carb diet is actually a Hi-Protein diet. All of these, however, are enormous misconceptions.

The first myth: many dieters who use this program believe that calories and fat do not matter when eating low carb food, but in some cases this has proven to be fatal. Depending upon your particular body chemistry, when eating high fat food your cholesterol could climb and climb, leading to a heart attack or stroke. Also, it has now been proven that the older we become the less our body is able to metabolize the high fat portion of the Atkins lo carb diet, leading to additional dietary and health problems.

The second myth: The Atkins Diet is actually a Lo-Carb diet, not a No-Carb diet. What should be cut out are breads, rice and potatoes. Fresh fruits and vegetables should not be cut back and many should be somewhat increased. Finally, after the first month you can safely add breads and potatos --- in limited quantities. One friend of mine eats 1 bite of breads/toasts, etc., served with his meals, such as garlic breads. One bite and not a morsel more.

The third myth: Mention the Atkins Diet and most people's reaction is Oh, yes, the 'high protein' diet. Not true at all --- it's a Low Carb diet - protein intake remains unchanged. Some carbs only, not all, are restricted (versus eliminated completely); fats, particularly in older people, need to be restricted; protein should be kept to 4-6 ounce portions per meal, the lower values for breakfast and lunch. What you need to increase is your intake of high-fiber foods such as celery, etc.

The reason why the Atkins Diet works is because your body metabolizes its stored fat (carbohydrates) in order to burn --- digest --- the protein, fiber and fat you are eating. The Atkins Dieters tend to leave out several food groups, including fruit and vegetables, since they are high carb food, and then tend to grab a steak instead, which has very low carbohydrates.

This is ridiculous. Why? Because the elimination of carbohydrates and the reduction of the fresh fruits and vegetables actually throws your health into a major imbalance. Overloading your unbalanced diet by an excess of protein intake (adding that steak, above) to increase the volume to a satisfying level merely exacerbates this imbalance.

The true danger of the Atkins Diet, however, lies in the fact that, for people who already have health challenges, the Atkins Diet actually worsens some conditions and creates other health challenges that did not exist before the Atkins Diet. The worst of these is Gout. If you have a tendency to suffer gout, no matter how well controlled you have it, a strict Atkins Diet will create a severe gout condition and gout attack for you. If you merely had the tendency for gout with no active gout, the Atkins Diet will precipitate an actual condition of gout in your body. A severe case of gout requires medical intervention to correct as well as long-term dietary control and change. The long-term danger of gout is an increased tendency for heart attack and stroke. See Native's Gift for one proven help for gout.

If your body type and chemical makeup is suitable for the Atkins Diet then by all means use it. Remember that there are several similar alternatives out there which may be more suitable than a strict Atkins, to include some of Dr. Atkins own later work and recommendations. If you have health challenges, to include a tendency for gout or actually suffer from gout, or have diabetes or any of several other disorders, the Atkins diet is definitely something you need to avoid.

And not just the Atkins Diet. Any and all diets which highly restrict or eliminate one of the essential food groups we all need to maintain optimal health is equally bad. Stop the insanity and use a REAL diet --- the only proven diet which will work for virtually everyone.

What is it? Its actually two things: A food diet and exercise - yes, simple exercise, like walking a mile a day. A completely balanced, restricted calorie, diet containing a little bit of everything. Eat three meals a day, get your sweets, carbs, veggies, fruits, juices, protein and keep it to 1200 calories a day. Eat your breakfast and go out and walk the dog - if you don't have one, take your neighbor's. Give this diet a year of your life, weigh yourself every Monday and keep track of your weight, see where you are with it..and make the change for the rest of your life. When you get to your target weight you may increase the diet to 1600 calories a day.

Attention Deficit Disorder

Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) have been widely used labels since the early 1990s. They are considered catch-all diagnoses by many clinicians. Frankly, ADD/ADHD is poorly understood within the health care profession. Many clinicians have difficulty with classification of different behavior disorders, which are then lumped under the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD.

ADD and ADHD are caused by biochemical imbalances in the brain. In the brains of ADD/ADHD sufferers, chemicals known as neurotransmitters are not being adequately produced/processed. To stimulate the brain to cause alertness, these chemicals need to be in abundant supply. (ADD is specifically caused by too little norepinephrine production, and ADHD is linked to a decreased amount of dopamine). When norepinephrine and dopamine are in short supply, the brain essentially falls asleep. Information cannot be processed electrically and inappropriate messages will get transferred to the rest of the body. Without the correct stimulation, messages are interrupted and incorrect information gets processed. The message can be sent to or interpreted in the wrong location.

Clinically, patients with ADD/ADHD have difficulty focusing on one task. They can also miss messages from the environment. They appear to have a loss of memory and poor listening skills. Poor sleeping habits are common due to the brain's inability to shut down. Intervention strategies must address the specific areas of the brain. A specific evaluation must be done to correlate exam findings to provide strategies to maximize their full brain potential.

As a Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist, I take a different approach to the treatment and prevention of attention deficit disorder. After a thorough neurological examination, I determine which part of the nervous system is not functioning properly.

To stimulate brain function, pathways must have neurological activation. Left-sided structural adjustments will stimulate pathways that fire to the right brain. Other effective modalities can also be utilized to stimulate brain function. One example is visual stimulation (watching black and red or blue and green checkerboards) in the left or right vision field. Auditory stimulation in one ear can also be utilized at different intensities and frequencies, based on the patient need. Metronome clicks, gentle ocean sounds, rain showers, or Mozart are a few examples of auditory stimulation. Continually monitoring the patient's blood pressure, respiration rate, pulse, pupillary reflex and V/A ratio are mandatory to avoid over-stimulating the brain.

To truly understand ADD/ADHD, we must address attention as a global process, not just an issue of being able to focus on and sustain attention to a task. Attention is required in both cognitive and behavioral processes. How the information is utilized by the individual's brain is critical to correct diagnosis and treatment.

Avoid Commont Fitness Pitfalls

While exercising isn't complicated, it's very easy to make mistakes. Often times the mistakes are made because of lack of proper technique training or simply due to rushing to get the workout completed. Regardless of the reason for the mistakes, they can lead to injuries or at the very least be counter-productive to your fitness goals.

Of course it's important to know specifically what to do to be successful at meeting your health and fitness goals but it is also crucial to understand what not to do. So take note of the following common mistakes and how to avoid them. These tips will help ensure your workout time is effective and help prevent injuries.

Too Much, Too Soon

Many new exercisers try to lose weight or tone up too quickly, by exercising too frequently or trying exercise programs that are too difficult for their fitness level. Be sure to start with an exercise plan that takes your current fitness regimen (or lack of) into account.

Pie In The Sky Goals

Despite what many advertisers would like you to believe, it's unrealistic to think you can lose 30 pounds in 30 days or that you can have Hollywood abs simply by doing 10 minutes of crunches a day. It's good to set goals but be sure they aren't too aggressive and realize it's okay to periodically re-define them.

Ignoring Expert Advice

It's always advisable to consult your physician before starting an exercise program. Working with a fitness professional is also a good idea so you can learn proper technique, the latest fitness information and learn how to avoid injuries.

Over-Exercising

If you start to feel overwhelmed, neglect important daily activities in order to workout or repeatedly get injured, then it might be due to exercising too frequently. Realize the importance of balance and that more is not always better. Consider reducing the frequency of your workouts or the intensity of some of them and periodically resting for a few days or a week.

Improper Breathing

Sure, breathing is an involuntary bodily function; something that most individuals tend to ignore. But, breathing correctly during fitness sessions is very important. Incorrect breathing can lead to lack of oxygen and even faintness. When working out ensure that you don't breathe too shallowly and try to breathe through the nose and out the mouth.

Selecting The Wrong Size

Choosing the proper weight size when strength training is trickier then it sounds. Lifting weights that are too heavy for you can lead to improper form and ultimately to injuries. Use weights that are too light and the exercise session can be ineffective. If possible consult a fitness trainer to determine the correct amount of weight for your size, strength and goals. A trainer can also help you develop a plan for safely progressing forward on weight sizes.

Not Staying Hydrated

Drinking enough water on a daily basis is important. When you exercise you need to consume even more water. You should drink 16 ounces for every hour of exercise you complete. Plus you should try to consume 1-2 cups of water about 30 minutes before you begin working out.

Eating Too Little

No, that's not a typo. Not eating enough can be as detrimental as eating too much. When the body is not fed consistently, it goes into a starvation mode. Five to six smaller meals evenly spaced throughout the day helps keep the metabolism running smoothly. Just be sure to control portion size.

Hanging Out Instead Of Working Out

Just showing up at the gym is not going to help you get more fit. Socializing while leaning on a weight machine won't build muscles. It's important to enjoy your exercise time but make sure that the focus remains on physical activity.

Fixating On The Scale

If you think the scale doesn't lie, consider this. Many professional athletes would be considered obese based on their weight alone. Look at the bigger and more relevant picture. Monitor your body fat percentage, if possible. Otherwise track measurements. Also don't underestimate the importance of improved physical and mental well-being.

Ask What If? To Solve Problems

To creatively solve problems you need to get your mind looking in new directions. You can systematically do this by using a list of words, primarily adjectives, to create what if? scenarios. You start with the question, what if it was... and then insert a word from the list. The it in the question is the problem you're trying to solve, or the solution or situation that exists now.

Using What If To Solve Problems

An example will help explain the process. Assume your house is too crowded because you're running your business from it. You ask, What if it was... and insert from the word list, smaller. The house is already too small, but could the business be smaller? The word divided might give you the idea to keep the business in just one part of the house.

Most words on the list won't help, so you can go through the irrelevant ones quickly. Don't automatically dismiss them, though, without a few seconds consideration. What if it was hopeless? may seem like a useless question, or it may make you realize that you just can't keep the business in the house any longer.

As with most problem-solving techniques, it's important to allow ideas to flow without judging them initially. Don't stifle the creative process. Evaluate your ideas later, when you're done with this part.

The Problem Solving Word List

You can create your own list of words. Use adjectives, descriptive phrases, and words that can change your perspective. These could include the following:

What if it was... larger, smaller, farther away, closer, sooner, later, easier, more difficult, higher, fat, rich, short, black, certain, hopeless, newer, boring, casual, subtracted from, cheaper, common, divided, more interesting, extravagant, subtle, or fun?

At onde???

At onde? At onde a tal pergunta...

Penso que o at onde est nossa cabea. No existe onde, existe o porque? Porque devemos parar e porque devemos continuar...

O Porque o sentido que a vida precisa ter. Tudo tem que ter um sentido MUITO especial, porque sem isso, tudo ficar cinza e no colorido como a vida .

What's So Special About Cinnamon?

I don't know about you, but just the smell of cinnamon makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over.

My favorite cookies to make is Snickerdoodles because I just LOVE the smell of them baking. There's just something warm and delicious about it.

The sense of smell is powerful - and when my kids smell Cinnamon, they are going to feel warm and fuzzy all over because of the fun we've had in the kitchen.

But, you might be surprised to know that the history of Cinnamon goes waaaay back - it was one of the first trade spices.

In fact, cinnamon is mentioned in the Bible - it was used in the combination of ingredients used to make a holy anointing oil for the tabernacle:
Moreover the Lord spake unto Moses saying,

Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,

And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin:

And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.
Exodus 30:22-25 NKJV
The ointment or oil was used to anoint the tabernacle of the congregation, the ark of the testimony, the table and all the vessels, the candlestick, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt-offering, etc.

I find two things interesting about this passage:
That cinnamon was an ingredient in this holy anointing oil
That is is called an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary.
Does cinnamon have health benefits as well?

There are cinnamon pills for diabetes, cinnamon bark used medicinally by the Chinese for calming stomach acids, cinnamon bark being used in India for childbirth labor, and cinnamon increasing blood circulation and creating a warm feeling.

Well, didn't I start out by saying just the smell of cinnamon makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over?

Are You (or are you with) A CommitmentPhobe?

We hear it all the time. He just won't make a commitment. She just wants some space right now. I'm not sure if I'm ready for a serious relationship.

What does having a fear of commitment really mean? Actually, it means basically what it says. For SOME reason you, or someone you are involved with, isn't ready to take this relationship (or any relationship) to the next step.

So how do we know if we or our (hoped for) partner are truly afraid of commitment? How do we know that it's not something else? Is there any real difference between these two anyway?

Do these excuses sound familiar? I'm just under a lot of stress right now. It's not you, it's me. I can't focus on a relationship right now because of my overloaded schedule.

Very often, we want to accept these reasons because we fear the real truth. Other times, we are just very confused by our feelings and the often mixed messages from the other person.

So, how do we evaluate our ability to make a long-term commitment? How do we know if he/she is really ready or willing?

There are only two real issues here to examine.

The first issue involves looking at a true fear of commitment itself. If this is the problem it's important for the person with this fear to ask themselves a few key questions.

Are you concerned about the idea of forever?
Do you fear you could make a mistake in who you choose?
Do you fear a loss of your freedom/autonomy?
Are you afraid of a bad marriage- like your parents for instance
Do you fear you would be a bad mate?

If you answered yes to any of these, it would be a good idea to begin working to
understand where these feelings come from. Once you understand them better, you can choose to address them.

Perhaps you need more time or emotional growth before you consider making
a long-term commitment.

If you'd like to deal with past relationship feelings, I have an article on this at http://www.consum-mate.com/02jul.htm.

If you are unsure if you are relationship ready, check out my article on this at http://www.consum-mate.com/03jun.htm

If lack of self-awareness is an issue, check out http://www.consum-mate.com/02aug.htm

Greater self-knowledge will help you to overcome this block to building a lasting and satisfying relationship.

The second issue is the inability to make a commitment to a PARTICULAR relationship. This may not be the right one. Perhaps there is a sense of this but it is written off to being a commitment -phobe in general.

Focus on the true level of involvement with each other. Is there a genuine connection? Or is there a vague feeling of something missing? Evaluate the quality of your intimate relating. This does not mean how often (or even how good) the sex is. This is about how open, sharing and real you are in your interactions with each other.

Does any of this sound familiar?

It seems like we are only killing time?
He/she doesn't seem to want what I want.
We seem to be off and on in our level of contact/affection.
I hey are still not over a past relationship.
I hey just don't seem to know what I hey want.

Remember to focus on the involvement or lack thereof between you. If either person is disengaged in any way, it's time to address the real issue of; Is this the right relationship for us?

Exploring your ability to make a lasting commitment should be a first step in your plan for building a healthy and lasting relationship.

Arthritis And Diet

Arthritis And Diet

Arthritis can be helped by paying attention to your diet. Today lets take a look at minerals and the role they play in bone, ligament and cartilage health.

MINERALS NEEDED IN THE DIET:
Boron - This trace mineral aids in bone health.

Calcium - This is a much-needed mineral for bone health.

Magnesium - Magnesium helps keep calcium in balance within the system.

Zinc - This mineral is necessary for bone growth, but is often lacking in arthritic patients.

Manganese - Manganese is also necessary for bone growth. However, do not ingest manganese with calcium because they can work against each other.

Copper - Copper helps to strengthen connective tissue.

Germanium - This antioxidant helps with pain relief.

Sulfur - A lack of sulfur can result in deterioration of ligaments, cartilage, collagen and tendons.

Vegetables are a good source of minerals, especially the dark leafy greens such as swiss chard and kale. So it would be wise to make sure that you have 5 or more 1/2 cup survings of vegetables in your diet each day.

Don't skimp on your vegetables or you may not get enough minerals to help with your arthritis.

Avandia Side Effect Lawyer: Diabetes Drug Damages Liver

Avandia, a compound of rosiglitazone maleate, is an oral antidiabetic agent. Avandia pills increase insulin sensitivity for patients with type 2 diabetes, or non-insulin-dependent diabetes. Avandia also improves glycemic control as it reduces the circulation of insulin levels. If diet, exercise, and a single drug are not enough to control blood sugar levels, Avandia can be used in conjunction with another drug.

Avandia is not to be used for type 1 diabetes (juvenile onset diabetes) or diabetic ketoacidosis. It is questionable whether people with heart failure, fluid retention, or active liver disease should take Avandia at all. Since Avandia became available there have been reports of the development of hepatitis (the inflammation of the liver) due to elevated liver enzymes. Patients taking Avandia should have their liver enzymes monitored regularly.

Additionally, Avandia is in the same class of drugs as Rezulin, a very dangerous drug that has been associated with devastating liver injury including liver failure that can only be cured with transplant. Without immediate transplant, many Rezulin liver failures have resulted in death. Because of this close association with a dangerous drug, users of Avandia should be in close contact with a doctor if they notice any symptoms of liver problems such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fatigue, dark urine, or jaundice. Avandia is also very dangerous for pregnant women and their unborn children.

It is also advised, should you suffer adversely from the use of Avandia, to consult a lawyer. The recent proliferation of dangerous drugs into the marketplace is a disturbing trend, and should a drug threaten your health you should be repaid for damages and the drug should be taken off the market.

A Chat with Osama

After speaking with Saddam, I was not especially surprised to hear from Osama. He did not care to speak with me off the record and wanted me to record and publish our conversation. He said he could no longer imagine talking to any American in a position of authority. He said he had been trying to do that for more than twenty years and the response was always; who are you that we should listen? He felt he had satisfactorily answered the question of who he was and noted that it produced no meaningful dialogue.

Osama: I am calling you to speak to the people of the world. Video and audio tapes have not worked very well. Do you have any questions for me?

Ed: Oh yes! Probably many you don't want to answer.

Osama: Try me.

Ed: Why do you attack innocent people?

Osama: We do not attack innocent people. We attack ignorant people who make it their business to support distorted government policies- policies that create humiliation and suffering in far away places. We attack the irresponsible people who serve the policy makers and fraudulent financiers.

Ed: Is that why you attacked the World Trade Center?

Osama: Exactly. Not only were they symbolic of overwhelming economic power, we needed to send a message to the hidden government of money and debt, that their days are numbered. They can hide from the entire world and quietly control everything, but we can bring them down, even if we don't know their names, and we do.

Ed: Then your partially successful attack on Washington D.C. was symbolic of the military power that serves the money power?

Osama. Very good. The idea was to cut off the head of the dragon, and then the limbs, in sequence. We had three Washington targets and only two attack ships, but timing demanded we strike when we did.

Ed: You have made it clear that if at first you don't completely succeed, you try again. I'm assuming that you will try to finish your targets in Washington.

Osama: I'm glad I called you. Since 1993, we have been trying to tell the people of the world that we will not fail in our mission, no matter how long it takes. We have been very patient and know the value of patience. At the same time, we give warning to all who live and work in and near our targets. That is another reason why we are not attacking innocent people. We are attacking targets where people choose to be, in spite of our warnings. They bet we won't succeed and then they lose the bet, again and again. The World Trade Center should have stood empty since '93. Everyone there bet on the U.S. Government and against us. They are doing the very same today in Washington, because Americans refuse to learn from their mistakes and believe they are helpless to change, especially the leaders.

Ed: I cannot argue with that. As I understand it, Al Qaeda and associates are well trained in the use of weapons of mass destruction. Why haven't you used them?

Osama: For many reasons. First, it is not our desire to destroy all the people of America but to awaken them to a reality in global politics, they, like their leaders, choose to ignore. Between attacks we leave space for dialogue. When none develops, we move on to the next step.

Next, there are more than a few logistical problems in moving the weapons to locations close to where they will be used. Saddam has been very helpful in this matter. Operation Iraqi Freedom has created great new opportunities for us. We owe the U.S. a debt for this assistance.

Ed: You mean Saddam's money and cooperation?

Osama: That and more. The things Saddam wanted as head-of-state became very easy to acquire as Saddam-at-large, with pockets full of money. Since this stateless condition is new to him, he quickly teamed up with various stateless movements, with goals similar to his own.

Ed: Such as Al Qaeda and Palestinian fighters?

Osama: Very much like those. You recall his support for the families of the Palestinian suicide bombers. Saddam set up a trust account that will continue that support, long after he is gone. When living in Palestine is more profitable than dying, the bombings will cease. I don't see that happening any time soon.

Ed: I don't think anyone does. You said the Iraqi invasion has been good for you in many ways. Such as?

Osama: Our recruitment has more than doubled our numbers. It is perfectly clear to the average Arab and Islamic believer that Iraq is only the beginning of a grand imperial design for the region. To set up a Westernizing propaganda center and spread out. President Bush calls it spreading Democracy, but it is a thinly veiled attempt to westernize the Arab world and Islam, which will never, ever, happen.

Ed: I can see that. Tell me more.

Osama: Saddam loyalists all ran away to fight again another day, and they have a score to settle with America. There are a few million of them, they know Saddam yet lives and he also has some scores to settle. They no longer have a state to fight for but they still have a hated enemy to defeat. A conventional army would be useless, so they are organizing in Iraqi cells. When their fight is over in Iraq next year, they are willing to go wherever the enemy is, to continue the fight. We have people there, training and helping them, bringing them along on small operations. We have been holding them back some, but not for much longer.

Ed: Why do you think they will have won sometime next year?

Osama: American political winds. They began stirring with the last funding request. Iraqi resistance will ratchet up. American security efforts will be increasingly undermined and the rank and file Iraqis will turn on them too. Non Iraqi civilian contractors will die and retreat. American military casualties will double, and then triple, until the American people refuse to support their leadership in a losing proposition. If I am wrong in my understanding, we will attack America at home again, and that will be the straw that breaks the will of the people to sacrifice further for leadership goals. The American people will find new leaders who will talk to us as we are talking now. It is an election year, no?

Ed: Why are you so focused on terrorist tactics? Isn't there another way?

Osama: Of course there is! Dialogue. Which has been rejected by America since the beginning. With no dialogue, terrorism is the most effective way for the poor to fight the rich. We just as soon kill or cripple a soldier or a pilot before he is trained, whether he is four years old or twenty. We know we are in a war that lasts for generations. Why shouldn't we reduce the forces that will be fighting our children?

It is not the moral question America pretends it to be. A suicide bomber is just a military pilot without a plane. Rich countries put their terrorists in the latest multi- million dollar aircraft and terrorize the people on the ground anonymously, and fly mission after mission of terror. Martyrs use one bomb and look their victims in the eyes. They do not return to attack again a few hours later. They rest. They are more honorable than the sky terrorists.

Ed: I never thought of it that way.

Osama: Why would you? You have been taught all your life that the way of the rich is moral and the ways of the poor are immoral. In fact, you are secretly taught that all opposition to the rich is immoral or illegal, so the thought of resisting never crosses your minds.

In rich countries you are taught to live, fight and die for well concealed lies, in the name of patriotism and freedom. You wised up some during Vietnam and forgot most of your lessons when it was over. You have an expression that says; those who do not learn from their mistakes are destined to repeat them. Forgetting your lessons has become a cultural identifier in the West. We haven't forgotten ours and we don't repeat them. This gives us a tremendous advantage in fighting the rich. We can operate on shoestring budgets and prefer it. We are your proof that money isn't everything and you will ignore that proof, as you have been taught to do.

Ed: That is not necessarily true. Americans began to question authority back in the sixties. Some never stopped doing so and it is becoming fashionable among their children and grandchildren. This time there is no generation gap to take the edge off the truth. Whatever becomes of the old America, a new America is giving birth to the global consciousness that has been so lacking.

Osama: I will pray for this - that there will be no fighting among our grandchildren. I have enjoyed talking with a reasonable American. It is something I would like to do again, if you don't mind. I suspect you know enough to stay clear of our likely targets, so you can answer your phone.

Ed: Oh yes, I know where not to be for the foreseeable future and I am warning others, especially those in target zones.

Osama: Keep at it. It will save a few lives and you will be blessed. I'll call again when the desire strikes me. Should anything happen to me, a friend will call you.

Ed: I understand. If anything should happen to me, you will be talking to someone else. Thanks for calling. I look forward to next time.
